Different Initiatives

Kitab Kautik

Kitab Kautik is a travelling celebration of books, ideas, local culture and community. Organised in different towns of Uttarakhand, these book fairs bring together publishers, writers, readers, children, artists and local communities. Literary discussions, exhibitions, cultural performances, heritage activities and interactions with authors make each Kitab Kautik a festival of learning and creativity.

Kumauni Archives

A digital preservation initiative dedicated to collecting, documenting and making accessible material related to the history, language, literature and culture of Kumaun and Uttarakhand. The archive includes books, maps, copper plates, audio recordings, manuscripts and articles, helping protect valuable material that might otherwise disappear with time.

Myor Pahad Myar Pachhyan

Myor Pahad Myar Pachhyan is an online cultural conversation series created to promote Kumauni and other languages of Uttarakhand, particularly among the younger generation. Through live discussions and interviews, the programme has documented the experiences and creative journeys of folk artists, historians, writers, scientists, athletes, social activists and many other inspiring personalities. These conversations form a valuable audio-visual record of contemporary Uttarakhand.

Sahityik Charcha and Nagrik Abhinandan

Sahityik Charcha and Nagrik Abhinandan programme documents and celebrates the lives, personalities and creative contributions of Uttarakhand’s writers, poets, folk artists and cultural figures. Each programme brings together scholars, readers, writers, students and cultural enthusiasts to understand the person behind the work and introduce their contribution to a new generation.

Music

Music carries the memory of a community. Creative Uttarakhand has produced and supported music rooted in the languages, emotions and landscapes of the hills. Through albums, recordings and cultural performances, we work to provide meaningful platforms to Uttarakhand’s musicians, singers, lyricists and folk traditions.

Publications

We support the creation and publication of books, research material, local histories and cultural documentation related to Uttarakhand. Our aim is to help important knowledge move beyond private collections and reach students, researchers, readers and communities.

Digital Presence

Since the early days of the internet in India, members of our team have been searching for, documenting and sharing everything connected with the “Pahad”—its people, culture, literature, history and identity. Our journey began with contributions to online forums, blogs and independent websites. As social media platforms emerged, our members became active participants in Orkut communities, Facebook groups and pages, YouTube channels and other digital platforms dedicated to Uttarakhand. Over the years, these platforms have helped us connect people, initiate discussions, share cultural resources and create a meaningful digital presence for Uttarakhand.
Below are some of the key websites, social media pages, groups and channels where members of our team have made significant contributions.
